About The Book
Based on the true story of the beagle, Guy, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, who adopted him from a rescue shelter and brought him with her to the UK to live with her and Harry in a palace.
Alone and without an owner to care for him, Guy the pup was just like any other dog in the shelter - he liked to play and have fun, but longed for someone to take him home and love him. Little did he know, he was about to be the star of his own Cinderella story, when Meghan Markle turned up at the shelter looking for a dog to adopt.
This children's picture book is written by the awesome animal activist Nancy Furstinger and is illustrated by Julia Bereciartu with delightful and touching pictures.
About The Author
Nancy Furstinger is a leading figure in speaking up for, and writing about, animals. She has two passions: books and animals, so it's no surprise that of her impressive oeuvre of nearly 100 books, on subjects as far reaching as travel, history, music and gender, a great many are about animals! She began writing when her third-grade class put on a play that she wrote. Since then she has been a newspaper reporter, written and edited for a consumer and trade magazine, and been a managing editor for a children's publishing house. From this she caught the book bug and now she works as a freelance writer.
Julia Bereciartu was born in San Sebastian, Spain. Painting and drawing has been her biggest love since she was a little girl, where she used black markers on her mum's new couch. In 2003 she moved to Madrid, and after several years working as a graphic designer, she decided it was time to pursue her childhood dream. Since 2009 she has been a freelance illustrator, working from her cozy home studio. Her latest illustrated book, Power to the Princess, retells 15 favourite fairy tales for a new generation, focussing on issues such as self-image, confidence, LGBTQ, friendship, advocacy, and disability.
