Agatha Christie is recognized as the Queen of Crime throughout the world. She had exceptional knack at creating innovative suspense novels with surprising twists and turns. As the name suggests. “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” revolves around the murder of Roger Ackroyd and investigations made by Hercule Poirot for finding the murderer. Hercule Poirot has lost interest in the detective business since the departure of Hastings to South America. He is in a small village and is leading a simple life. But he is back to work when Roger the rich man is murdered. He does his work and investigates the murder case with James Sheppard, a local doctor and friend of Roger. The narrator is James Sheppard. Agatha has given a gripping end to the story. The murderer is unpredictable. That’s the interesting part of the novel that you can even imagine the end. However, this novel was controversial but read it and ignore the controversy.
Agatha’s writing is lean and spare. All characters in the novel have important role, none of the character is neglected. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd- is one of Agatha’s best mystery novel. This book is an insightful and captivating read trying to unravel the mystery of the death of Roger Ackroyd!
